On April 14, 2020, the Mountain View City Council voted unananimously to drastically increase its emergency funding for renters who are out of work due to the new coronavirus, cobbling together $1.1 million in additional funding for rent relief. As of April 13, 2020, more than 1,400 households in the City had requested financial assistance. The prior funding assistance would easily be exhausted compared to the rate of requests.
