San Leandro has instituted protections for commercial and residential tenants.

Commercial and Residential tenants experiencing financial hardship due to COVID-19 should inform their landlords in writing to prevent an eviction. Tenants shall provide documents of financial hardship to their landlord. Tenants are liable to pay back rent within 120 to 180 days after the expiration of the emergency ordinance. Landlords are not permitted to evict affected tenants.
